Butler County Board of Education approves amended 15-16 calendar

The Butler County Board of Education met Tuesday evening at the Butler County Education Complex, discussing a wide array of topics from archery’s success in the community to approving the amended 2015-2016 Butler County School Calendar.Last day for students is May 25, 2016. Treasurer Eric Elms reported that the School District’s balance at the beginning of February was $1,765,328.82; it ended the month with a balance of $1,792,445.55. Elms told the board that the ending balance was about $75,000 less than at the end of February a year ago, citing renovation costs as a major factor for the decrease. Butler County Superintendent Howard said that Butler County’s archery team’s have been a huge success and that about 100 students in the county participate. Howard said Butler County School's are looking into utilizing Edgenuity software in the school system, but it is in a preliminary, information-gathering stage.

Before the meeting adjourned the board approved the following:

-School Facilities Construction Commission Offer of Assistance in the Amount of $28,770 Annual Debt Service.

-BCHS FCCLA Overnight Trip Request to Attend FCCLA State STAR Events Meeting in Louisville, KY on March 28th-31st, 2016

- BCHS FCCLA Overnight Trip Request to Attend Leadership Camp in Hardinsburg, KY on June 6th-8th, 2016.

-Approve BCHS Rocket Team Trip Request to Attend the TARC Qualification Flights in Holland, IN on March 19th, 20th, or 26th, 2016.

- BCHS Baseball Overnight Trip Request to Attend Tournament at Rockcastle County High School in Vernon, KY on May 13th-14th, 2016.

- FMLA Request for a MES Teacher.

- Procedure Revision of 03.125 AP .22 (Correction of Mileage Reimbursement Amount).

- FY 16 Butler County Schools Revised Calendar.

-Approved FY 17 Tentative School Council Allocations

The board approved the amended school calendar for 2015-2016.
