Butler County beats Ohio County in regular season finale

HARTFORD — Butler County upended Ohio County in a regular season finale, winning 8-2 on Thursday, May 16.  
With the win, Butler County improved to 9-18. 
Butler County scored first and never trailed. The Bears led 3-0 before Ohio County plated its first run in the bottom half of the third inning. 
Butler County outscored Ohio County 5-1 over the last three innings to pull away for the win.  
Miley Franzell pitched for Buter County and earned the win in the circle. Franzell, who pitched a complete game, recorded three strikeouts.  
Butler County scored eight runs on 10 hits. Franzell (two hits, one RBI), Madison Clark (three hits, four RBIs), Karrington Hunt (two hits, one RBI), Mia Thomas (two hits, one RBI) and Parker Willoughby (one hit) each produced offensively for the Bears. Both Clark and Thomas homered. 
Butler County is scheduled to meet Whitesville Trinity in the semifinals of the 12th District Softball Tournament at Grayson County High School on Monday, May 20. First pitch for the Butler County-Whitesville Trinity game is slated for 6 p.m.
