Butler County Bassmasters Celebrating 25 Years

Butler County Bassmasters was founded in 1988 when several men in the Aberdeen Baptist Church got together and decided to put together a bass club with Michael Embry serving as the first club Tournament Director. In the early tournaments, the club would meet at the church with their two man boats and puddle jumpers and take off from there. Strip pits, along with the Mud and Green Rivers in the county were the main tournament sites.
Since then, the club has expanded its tournament waters. The boats have gotten bigger and the tournaments now include several area lakes and rivers.  Danny Cardwell currently serves as the club Tournament Director with help from all of our club members. Butler County Bassmasters now fishes all over western and south central Kentucky.

"The club strives to hold to its founding principles and guidelines we started with 25 years ago. We try to fish a good mix of rivers and different types of lakes to help our members become the best all-around anglers possible while enjoying friendly competition and fellowship," said CArdwell.
To celebrate their 25th year, Butler County Bassmasters will be hosting an open bass tournament on Green River.  The tournament will take place September 21st on the Green River at the Morgantown/Aberdeen boat ramp. Tournament hours will be from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Daniel Cardwell will be set up taking registrations at the boat ramp from 5:30 am until 6:15 am. At 6:15 there will be a draw for starting positions with the tournament start at 6:30 AM. Entry fee will be $30 per boat and there will be a $5 optional big fish pot. This tournament is 100% payback. We will also be raffling off a pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses ($160 value) donated by Gander Mountain at $2 a ticket. At registration we will also be giving away some free gifts from Gander Mountain to all participants. You do not have to be, or ever have been, a Butler County Bassmasters member to fish this tournament. All KDFWR regulations and Butler County Bassmasters rules apply. Tournament rules will be available at registration or see the TOURNAMENT RULES section posted on our web site @ www.butlercountybassmasters.webs.com or on our facebook page.
Butler County Bassmasters would like to thank our sponsors for this event; Butler County Emergency Management, Bill Hood's Family Store, The Farm Boy Restaurant, Aberdeen Grocery Archery and Bait Shop, and our 2013 primary club sponsor Gander Mountain.
