Butler County Baseball picks up two wins against Trinity

Bears roll past Whitesville Trinity, 20-2
MORGANTOWN - Host Butler County completed a sweep of Whitesville Trinity in a 12th District baseball series on Wednesday, defeating the Raiders 20-2 in five innings.
With the win, Butler County improved to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the 12th District.
Whitesville Trinity dropped to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the district with the loss.
The Raiders owned an early lead after plating a pair of runs in the top half of the first inning. But Butler County answered, scoring four runs in the bottom half of the opening inning to move ahead. The Bears, under the direction of head coach Keith Butler, claimed a lead and never trailed again.
Two at-bats later, Butler County blew the game open in the bottom half of the third inning, scoring 15 runs to take a commanding 20-2 lead.
Butler County pitcher Warren Cameron earned the win. Cameron surrendered two runs on five hits over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Whitesville Trinity pitcher Matt Mills took the loss. Mills pitched two and a third innings, allowing 15 runs on nine hits and striking out three.
Butler County connected for 10 hits. Ross West and Parker Rice managed two hits apiece to lead the Butler County offensive effort. Caleb Beasley, Gage Ward, Hunter McKee, Duane Daniels, Carter Graham and Chance Castlen contributed one hit apiece for the Bears in the convincing victory. Rice, Ward and McKee collected three RBIs apiece for Butler County in the impressive win.
Four different Butler County players provided multiple RBIs as West drove in two runs for the Bears.
Both Butler County and Whitesville Trinity will compete in the 12th District Baseball Tournament in May.
The Bears are scheduled to visit Henderson County for a non-district game at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
 
Bears topple Whitesville Trinity, 12-2
WHITESVILLE - Butler County rolled on the road on Tuesday, defeating host Whitesville Trinity 12-2 in five innings in a 12th District baseball game.
With the win, Butler County improved to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the 12th District.
Whitesville Trinity dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in the district with the loss.
The Bears forced homestanding Whitesville Trinity to play from behind throughout the district matchup. Visiting Butler County outhit Whitesville Trinity 12-2.
Butler County scored first and never trailed Gage Ward hit into a fielder's choice in the opening inning to plate Butler County's first run. The Bears plated two runs in the opening inning and owned a commanding 9-0 lead following their third at-bat.
Butler County pushed across four runs in the third inning. Ward, Hunter McKee and Warren Cameron powered the Bears' big inning with RBIs.
Parker Rice led Butler County to the victory on the pitcher's mound, hurling a two-hitter. Rice allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out five.
Whitesville Trinity pitcher Zach Hardesty took the loss. Hardesty surrendered 12 runs on 12 hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four in the setback.
Butler County banged out 12 hits. McKee, Cameron, Rice and Ross West each provided multiple hits for the Bears. Rice went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Butler County in the hits column. Aiding the Butler County's offensive onslaught, Ward drove in three of the Bears' 12 runs in the winning effort.
Whitesville Trinity scored both of its runs in the top half of the fifth inning.

Both Butler County and Whitesville Trinity will compete in the 12th District Baseball Tournament in May.
