Butler County Animal Shelter Receives Animal Shelter Assistance Funding

Chaylee Melton, Volunteer; Daniel Guerrero, Tara Brown, Susan Meridith, Jessica Powell and Chad Tyree, Butler County Cattlemen’s member, Chad Tyree, presents the Butler County Animal Shelter with $600 from the 2016 Kentucky Cattlemen’s Foundation Animal Shelter Assistance Grant.

The Kentucky Cattlemen’s Foundation awarded the Butler County Animal Shelter with a $600 grant from the Animal Shelter Assistance program on Thursday.

The Animal Shelter Assistance program is in its sixth year and was funded by the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Foundation.  Foundation Chairman, Harvey Mitchell recognizes the important role animal shelters serve in our communities and encourages everyone to get involved at the local level.  “Find out who your local shelter is and how you can help” stated Mitchell, “All cattlemen understand the need to take care of our animals and it is nice to support others who are doing the same thing.”

The Butler County Animal Shelter plans on using this grant toward purchasing dog beds, as they do not currently have enough beds for everyone.

“We care about the comfort of animals while they are in our care,” stated Susan Meredith, Director of the Butler County Animal Shelter.  “We have had a drastic increase in the number of dogs in our shelter and this grant will help make sure that they have beds.”

If you would like to make a donation to Butler County Animal Shelter, please call (270) 526-2694 or email [email protected] for more information.  They are always in need of wet and dry dog/cat food, cleaning supplies, beds and cat litter.

The Animal Shelter Assistance program received over 25 applications from across the state and plans to continue the program in the future.

The Kentucky Cattlemen’s Foundation mission is to pursue opportunities that promote the profitability of the cattle industry in Kentucky through educational and philanthropic endeavors.  For more information, visit www.kycattle.org or call 859-278-0899.
