Butler Co. Middle School DARE Graduation

The Butler County Middle School 6th Grade DARE Graduation Ceremony was held on Friday, November 9, 2012. B.C.M.S. Students were treated to some very special presentations before the graduation ceremony began.


The Kentucky State Police Bomb Squad Unit explained to the students the importance of this special unit and demonstrated the uniform and special equipment that they use.

The Grayson County K-9 unit also visited with their dog named, Pharaoh. They demonstrated how the dog responds to drug detection and explained how important he is in fighting drugs and crime.


KSP Trooper Jeremy Smith presented graduation certificates to all 6th grade students from the Kentucky House of Representatives and signed by Butler County Representative, C.B. Embry. A special presentation was made to the DARE essay winners. 1st place award in the DARE essay contest was taken by Madelyn Barks and runner -up went to Sierra Woodcock. Trooper Smith challenged the students to use the skills and information from the DARE lessons to become productive citizens in the community and to be leaders in the fight against drugs and violence. Trooper Smith was presented with a gift certificate from B.C.M.S. in appreciation for his work with the students. A special thank you goes to the Butler County Youth Service Center for funding the program.
Following the program in the gym the students were able to see several of the Emergency Vehicles that were on display in the back of the school.
