Butler Co. EMS: Letter to Community

To the Citizens of Butler County:

Butler County Ambulance Service will be instituting the following changes effective immediately and continuing for the duration of the COVID-19 Emergency:

       1.      The Butler County Ambulance Service office/building will be closed to the public until further notice.  If you need to make a payment or           have a billing question, please mail the payment or call 270-526-2713 to make arrangement to pay over the phone.

2.

Butler County Ambulance Service will not perform blood pressure screenings at the EMS office.

3.

Butler County Ambulance Service will be modifying policy regarding family members accompanying the patient during transport.  This will NOT be allowed in most cases.

4.

All patients will be asked screening questions regarding travel/contact and signs/symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.  This will begin when the call is received by dispatch and continue with the arrival of the ambulance.

Butler County Ambulance Service will continue to respond to all emergency calls.  We will be following CDC and Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services guidance during this emergency.  This may impact the way we respond to some calls.  As we are all aware, we are experiencing an event that is unprecedented and impacting our daily lives in ways we have never seen.  Butler County Ambulance Service will continue to provide the highest level of patient care possible during this event.

In the event of an emergency, please call 911 – Do not bring patients to the Ambulance Service office.  Please be patient and cooperative with dispatchers as they ask screening question.  The goal of these questions is to allow EMS staff to be better prepared to care for our patients while reducing the risk of exposure and spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Butler County Ambulance Service is dedicated to protecting and caring for the citizens of Butler County and we hope you will understand these are trying times that affect us all.

We encourage everyone to adhere to the recommendations issued by the CDC and the State of Kentucky.  If you need assistance or information on COVID-19, go to www.kycovid19.ky.gov or call the COVID-19 Hotline – 800-722-5725.

 Respectfully,

 Brian McKinney, Director

Butler County Ambulance Service
