Busy July for BCHS Football

2023 preseason high school summer football workouts began in July across the state - and that includes Butler County.  The KHSAA allows all fall sports to begin daily workouts on Monday, July 10.  Football daily workouts began in helmets, t-shirts & shorts only in the month of July. Shoulder pads are allowed later, and full gear workouts begin August 1.

7-on-7 passing leagues during the summer preseason workouts took place in July as well. The Bears football traveled to Logan County on Tuesday, July 11, for a 7-on-7 passing league event.  BCHS hosted a home a 7-on - passing league event at BCHS on Thursday, July 13.

Passing league events are tune-ups to begin instant work on fundamentals of the game for quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. Reps are the key and getting as many in as possible. Passing leagues also allow coaching staffs to give the new incoming freshman reps and an understanding to freshmen of the speed of the game. With every level it changes; middle school, freshman, JV, then varsity. The speed and play of the game at each level is an eye opener to many.

Brandon Embry begins his 6th season as head coach at BCHS varsity football.  July, pre-season daily workouts are an evaluation time for all coaching staffs as the 2023 season quickly approaches. Scrimmages and full schedule to be released later.
