BTN/WLBQ Christmas Classic to tip-off December 21

With holiday tournaments a common feature in high school basketball, the Butler County Bears opted to cut down on travel and host their own tournament.  The result is the first-ever Beech Tree News/WLBQ 101.5 Christmas Classic, which is set for December 21-22 at the B.C.H.S. gym.  Four teams will join Butler County in the two-day event.
When Coach Calvin Dockery began planning for the Christmas tournament, he was in need of a sponsor.  After speaking with Coach Dockery, Beech Tree News and WLBQ 101.5 decided to sign on as the primary tournament sponsor.

"I am very pleased to have this partnership with Beech Tree News and WLBQ 101.5 that is allowing us the opportunity to host our Christmas Classic," said Coach Dockery.  "This is something that I have wanted to do for a few years and there has been tremendous support from this community and various businesses to make this a reality.  It is my hope that we can make this an annual event, bigger and better every year. There will be four other schools coming to our city bringing fans with them and hopefully spending some money here as well," added Dockery.

Joining Butler County will be Holy Cross (Lousiville), Hickman County, Bethlehem, and Cumberland County.
