BTN Candidate Profile: Travis McIntosh/Judge Executive
“Hello good citizens of Butler County. I am Travis McIntosh and I am running for the office of Butler County Judge Executive.
Butler County is my home. Butler County is my family’s home. Dating back generations, my family has taken up residence here and have always been proud of our county.
I am the son of Bro Jim McIntosh and Jewel. I am the husband to Amber (Cook) McIntosh and the father to two beautiful, talented daughters; Ellie and Atlie.
I served this county for several years as a LEO both with the Morgantown City Police, under then Chief, now Mayor Billy Phelps and the Butler County Sheriff Office, under Scottie Ward. My time with the SO I spent mainly as the SRO (School Resource Officer) with Butler County Schools. I currently work full time at Logan Aluminum and own/operate a small business.
My Plan as Judge Executive: A condensed overview
My Purpose:
Move our county forward. Restore trust. Fix transparency. Coordinate with our Magistrates to spend tax dollars wisely and cut waste.
1. Day One: Take Control
•Full audit of county finances, contracts, and grants
•Verify and review possible non-essential spending
•Review the need for closed sessions per the law
•Meet individually with every department head and emergency services
We have to get away from - “we’ve always done it this way.”
2. Transparency & Accountability
•Publish and make readily available a budget the public can understand
•Clear rules for closed sessions—used only when the law allows and when absolutely necessary. Cut them out if at all possible
•Create a public dashboard showing spending, road projects, and timelines
•Review performance standards for department heads and set a standard if none are in place
3. Roads & Infrastructure
•Roads prioritized by safety, condition, and traffic—not politics
•Publish the road list before work begins
•Focus on long-term fixes to minimize short-term patches
•Aggressively pursue state and federal infrastructure funding
The need will override influence.
4. Public Safety & Strong Communities
•Support law enforcement and first responders
•Invest in youth programs that that help grow and shape our future
•Clean up blighted properties dragging down neighborhoods
•Practice smart growth that respects taxpayers—not reckless purchases that lead to nowhere
5. How I’ll Lead
•No empty promises
•No permanent insiders
•No backroom deals
•No hiding behind procedure
I will work towards moving this county forward, along side the magistrates to whom I will hold accountable and my expectation is they do the same in return, as well as the tax paying citizens of this county. I am not a career politician and I have no desire to be. This is not a retirement plan. This is not a career path. This is an opportunity to help move this county forward.
It will be my privilege and my honor to serve you. May 19th, VOTE Travis McIntosh, Butler County Judge Executive #2 on the ballot!”
