Brush fire sends Rochester fireman to hospital

A brush fire near Silver City- Huntsville road led to one man being airlifted to Vanderbilt University Hospital for his injuries.

On March 15, Kenny Raymer was operating a bush hog on his 30-acre property when the field apparently caught fire.  Robbie O'Neil, a firefighter with the Rochester Fire Department, responded to the scene.  O'Neil was attempting to put out the fire with his brush truck when it got too close and caught fire.

O'Neil was released from the hospital today.

Several fire and emergency personnel responded to the scene:  Rochester, Morgantown, 2nd, 4th, and 5th District Fire Departments; Lewisburg and Dunmore Fire Departments; Butler County EMS and Charlie Tomes, emergency management director.
