Brady Jones top district speller

District Spelling Bee Winner Brady Jones and Butler County Schools' Superintendent Scott Howard

The 2018-19 Butler County Spelling Bee was held Tuesday night, January 29, at the education complex.  BCMS student Brady Jones took home top honors in the event against quality competition from both Morgantown Elementary and North Butler Elementary.  Brady's winning word was "snuggle."

As district winner, Jones will have the opportunity to represent the Butler County School District at the 2019 Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee.

The Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee will be held Saturday, March 16, at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.  

"I would like to thank all of the people at the school level for holding the school spelling bees because this involves a lot of time and effort," said Donna Annis, Elementary Curriculum Coordinator.   "We have two organizations that have been faithful to assist with the District Spelling Bee-- Retired Teacher Organization and Butler County Chapter of the DAR.

Ms. Georgia Romans of the DAR provided a certificate and a $25 Savings Bond for the winner.  

The judges were Becky Hankins, Vickie Cook, and Robert Tuck.  BCHS teacher Amy Deweese was the official announcer.
