Bears finish runner-up in 11th District

BROWNSVILLE — Butler County finished runner-up in the 11th District Boys' Soccer Tournament at Edmonson County on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Following the runner-up finish, Butler County advances to the 3rd Region Boys' Soccer Tournament.

Butler County 5, Grayson County 2: Butler County beat Grayson County 5-2 in the semifinals of the 11th District Boys' Soccer Tournament at Edmonson County on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Jonathan Portillo scored four goals and dealt out one assist to lead Butler County to the win.

Accompanying Portillo in Butler County's scoring column, Jesus Franscisco netted one goal.

Goalkeeper Landon Beatty paced Butler County defensively, recording 15 saves while limiting Grayson County to two goals.

Meade County 8, Butler County 0: Butler County was held scoreless as Meade County pulled away to win 8-0 in the 11th District Boys' Soccer Tournament title match at Edmonson County on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Landon Beatty and James Gomez split time at goalkeeper for Butler County during the district title match. Beatty tallied 16 saves. In another defensive performance for Butler County, Gomez delivered five saves.

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 7-8-1.

Both Meade County and Butler County advanced to the 3rd Region Boys' Soccer Tournament.
