Boys & Girls Club's Annual Dinner

The Butler County Boys & Girls Club held their annual dinner at Kent Manor. After a lovely dinner, guests listened to speeches given by two members of the Boys& Girls Club.

Jamie Johnson explained what the Club means to her. “It is a place where everyone is cared for, and a place where someone wants me to do well,” said Jamie.

Carly Mitchell said she attends the Boys & Girls Club because her Mom works nights. “My Mom knows it is a safe place for me and it is like my home away from home,” said Carly. It is nice to know someone cares about you.”
Bruce White, of the board of directors, thanked the many people and organizations that support the Club including the Morgantown Housing Authority, Morgantown Mission, Butler County Fiscal Court, and the Butler County School System. He then introduced director Debra Hall.
Hall spoke briefly about her past experiences raising five children, serving in the Army, and working with the Boys & Girls Club in Vermont.
She stressed the kids at the Club belongs to our community. “Our job is to nourish kids, no matter where they come from or what their needs are,” said Hall.
Hall praised her mother for challenging her six children to do their best in life. Mom always said, “It’s not how many times you fall down, it’s how many times you get up.”

Butler County Magistrates Johnny Tuck and Stevie Givens presented the Club with a check for $750 from the litter abatement program. Anita Joiner and her children, Cameron and Adrianna, helped organize the trash pickup event.
Certificates of Appreciation were presented to individuals and businesses for their support of the Club. The following awards were presented:
