Boys & Girls Club: Triple Play Recognition

The 2013 Triple Play Leadership Program recognized and awarded the outstanding input from members of the Butler County Boys & Girls Club pertaining to community service in the area on Tuesday, November 26 at 3:30 PM at the Butler County Boys and Girls Club.

Triple Play is a program involving BGCA and the U.S Department of Health and Human Services. The primary itinerary of the program is to promote physical activity and building healthy relationships for members aged 6-18.

Members participated in and overseen an array of cleaning operations at large scales. Several local destinations were slated for these operations to be executed.

Affected areas included the Morgantown Housing Authority, more specifically the Huff Ingram complex at which members conducted a cleaning operation at the playground, the street, the Boys and Girls Club office area, and numerous areas surrounding the club.

Another area affected was the Morgantown Police Department. Members picked up trash about the area of the Police Department.

The third primary area impacted was the Charles Black City Park. Despite the frigid conditions, members lead a massive clean up about the grounds of the park.

Ten pairs of premium-grade basketball shoes with accompanying athletic socks were awarded to the major contributors. Along with the awards and incentives, $250.00 was spent on healthy energy snacks, and $250.28 was spent on program supplies including jump ropes, basketballs, scrimmage vests, NBA basketball nets, and Gatorade coolers. The grand total expenditures totaled $1,230.21.

These funds were allocated by the Triple Play grant.
