Bowling Green Hot Rods Opener a Real Cliffhanger

The Bowling Green Hot Rods played their first home game of the season on April 5, at Bowling Green Ballpark in a nine-inning battle for the win against the Dayton Dragons. Bowling Green fired up their offense with a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third to give the Hot Rods the lead. Emilio Gustave's homer was followed up by a double from the bat of Vidal Brujan, who later scored on a hard single from Brendan McKay.

Not without their own fire, the Dragons came back in the top of the fifth with a walk, and then a double that tied the game. John Sansone stepped into the batter’s box for Dayton to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Dragons.

The  dramatic seventh inning brought around an error, a wild pitch, and the Dragons moved in front of the Hot Rods by two runs. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Hot Rods took advantage of a Dragons' error, which led to  Moises Gomez bringing home two runners to tie the game at 4-4. The see-saw game finished up with Ronaldo Hernandez hitting a walk-off single to the wall to bring in the win for the Hot Rods with a final score of Hot Rods 5, Dragons 4.
