Boil Water Advisory

This consumer advisory is being issued by Morgantown Utilities
What should you do?
Although NO CONTAMINATION HAS BEEN CONFIRMED we recommend: Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for three (3) minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water.  Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.  Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
What are the areas being affected?
All Morgantown Utilities customers, with the exception of Sawmill Road, and Veterans Hwy, west from the address 432 to William Natcher Parkway, Exit 29.  The water interruption will start Thursday night June 11, 2015, at 10pm and is expected to complete by Friday morning, June 12, 2015 at 6AM.
People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at increased risk.  These people should seek advice from their health care providers about drinking water.
What happened?
With the widening of the US 231, W GL Smith St., we will have to conduct a scheduled water service interruption, to connect newly installed lines and valves in this area.
How are we correcting the problem?
This is a construction caused problem, after installation of the water line and valves, Morgantown Utilities will be able to manage leaks and line breaks on W GL Smith Street.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.  This advisory was issued as a precautionary action and can only be lifted with the approval of the Kentucky Division of Water.  When all appropriate laboratory testing is completed and the Kentucky Division of Water allows us to lift the advisory we will inform you when you no longer need to boil your water, “ said Randell Gaskey, Superintendent Morgantown Utilities.
