Board of Education: Revised transportation handbook approved at June meeting

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session Tuesday at the Butler County Education Complex.

Board member Amy Hood was absent.

Superintendent Scott Howard praised the district’s first-ever Senior Walk that took place last month.

“It is so exciting to see seniors walk down the hall in full robe,” Howard said. “It is two-fold, we are able to recognize our seniors and get younger kids excited and focusing on their future as well. The first annual walk was very much a success and we plan to continue doing it each year.”

The annual Boys & Girls Club Golf Scramble will take place July 16 at Riverview Golf Course in Bowling Green.

An Early Childhood Meeting will take place June 22 at 9 a.m. at Hillside Cafe.

Adult Education Graduation will take place June 24 at 6 p.m at the Butler County Education Complex.

The board voted to approve a new transportation handbook that will be given to all bus drivers within the school district. Additions to the handbook make Butler County's rules unique, Howard said. Bus drivers who are responsible for driving students and teachers to field trips will not be able to travel farther than 15 minutes away once dropping them off.

The board discussed intentions to purchase 500 vests for Kindergartners within the district to use to help identify them easier. The vests will cost approximately $750.00.
