Blackhawk Composites Earns ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100:2009 Rev C Certifications

MORGANTOWN, Ky., September 25, 2012 – Blackhawk Composites, Inc. (BCI), producer of composite aerospace and commercial components and a sister company of Blackhawk Modifications, Inc., has earned ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100C certification for its manufacturing and quality management systems.
These certifications, established by the International Organization for Standardization, the Society of Automotive Engineers and the European Association of Aerospace Industries, signify that BCI meets or exceeds world-class quality management systems. Current ISO 9001:2008 standards deal with quality management systems, and AS9100C focuses on aerospace industry quality management.

BCI received certification in August from an independent accredited registrar after a nine-month process that included an extensive audit of company quality management programs and processes. Earning both certifications is a unique achievement for a company founded in 2009.

“Achieving this milestone was a team effort that required support from all areas of the facility including executive management and production personnel. This certification solidified the importance of managing a disciplined quality management system within all areas of the operation,” said Jim Allmon, Blackhawk CEO and Director of Business Development at Blackhawk Composites. “We look forward to discussing our capabilities with customers at NBAA and beyond.”

ISO 9001:2008/AS9100C standards are recognized throughout the aerospace industry. Major aerospace manufacturers and suppliers as well as government agencies around the world now require product provider compliance and registration as a condition for conducting business. In addition, BCI’s certification places the company on the Online Aerospace Supplier Information System (OASIS), increasing market opportunities for smaller firms by allowing aerospace customers to find certified product and service suppliers.
