Bevin stays on top as statewide recanvass results in no changes

Sheriff Scottie Ward, Dale Franklin, Cheri Werner, Hunter Peay, Dallas Embry and Sherry Johnson.

Matt Bevin's slim 83-vote margin was maintained last week following a statewide recanvass of votes as requested by Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, one of Bevin's primary challengers.  The recanvass was held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. by every county clerk in the state and was supervised by the office of the Secretary of State.
Locally, Butler County Clerk Sherry Johnson conducted the recanvass in her office.  Dallas Embry, of the Board of Elections, and Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward assisted, along with representatives from both candidates.  Dale Franklin represented James Comer, while Hunter Peay and Cheri Werner represented Matt Bevin.
There were no changes in the vote tallies for Butler County.  The state results were the same with no change in the 83-vote win by Matt Bevin.

Comer conceded the race to Bevin on Friday.

Republican Matt Bevin will square off against Democrat Jack Conway in the General Election on November 3.
