Josh Belcher, NBE Principal for the past six years, has been hired as Assistant Superintendent/Director of Pupil Personnel/Chief Academic Officer.  Although some Central Office positions have been restructured, the bulk of that job has been held by Robert Tuck, who will officially take over as superintendent on July 1.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Felty has been hired as Director of Technology & Energy Manager.  Those two areas, as well as additional responsibilities, have been managed for the last several years by Jimmy Arnold, who is retiring.  Felty recently finished his first year in school administration as principal at Morgantown Elementary.

Both Belcher and Felty were hired on Thursday, June 18, following interviews with a 10-person committee of parent and teacher SBDM members from schools and other school personnel.

“I am honored to be selected to this position. I want to be a tremendous part of moving Butler County School District to new heights,” said Belcher.  “As Assistant Superintendent and DPP I will be a servant leader and provide strong support to our principals, teachers and community. I will take great responsibility to ensure that our kids get the skills and knowledge they need to prepare them for lifelong success.”

Felty offered similar comments and praised his predecessor in the position.

“As the new Director of Technology I hope to continue Mr. Jimmy Arnold’s exceptional work in energy savings in the district, as well as increase the effectiveness of our faculty and staff in how they incorporate emerging technologies into better instructional opportunities for our students,” said Felty.  “I believe technology erases barriers to learning like no other tool and I hope to make access easier and more effective for our students and parents.”

Incoming Superintendent Robert Tuck praised the applicants, the process, and Messrs. Belcher and Felty.

“We interviewed some great candidates. I appreciate the hard work that our selection committee put into these hires,” said Tuck.  “We are excited to add Mr. Belcher and Mr. Felty to our district leadership team in these new capacity. They both bring a strong work ethic, passion, and knowledge base to these jobs that will help in supporting the educational process and making our school district and community better.”

Belcher and Felty will officially assume their new job responsibilities on July 1.

The search is already underway for new principals at each school and those positions are expected to be filled as soon as possible.
