Beech Tree News presents: "Bears Spotlight" Taylor Leach

Taylor is the starting guard and team co-captain for the 12th district championship Lady Bears basketball team. She is a senior at BCHS and the daughter of Todd and Tina Leach. The Leach family live in the Grancer community of Butler County.

 


Taylor started playing basketball for the Butler County junior pro league in kindergarten and continued to play for the BCMS and BCHS Lady Bears. Taylor also played on the BCMS football team as a kicker in the 7th grade. She also played softball and was a member of the BCMS band.


Taylor has been a part of two 12th district championship titles (2022 and 2024) for the BCHS Lady Bears and advanced to the region tournament all four years of high school.


Taylor is also a member of the BCHS track & field team and the varsity Lady Bears volleyball team. She was a part of the 4 x 800 relay team who advanced to the state track meet at the University of Kentucky in 2023.


Taylor’s sister, Graci, also played basketball for the BCHS Lady Bears. Taylor and Graci were both starters for the 2022 district championship team. Graci also played tennis for BCHS.


Taylor’s mom, Tina, ran track, played softball and cheered for BCHS. Taylor’s dad, Todd, played basketball, baseball and football; Taylor’s brother, Zach, played baseball and basketball.


Taylor is a member of the Beta Club and NAC Club. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and dog and being involved with her church. She was an employee at the Morgantown City Pool last summer and worked in the BCHS kitchen as a co-op student last fall. She was also voted Bearfest Queen 2024 by the BCHS student body.


Taylor was selected to the 12th district all-district team and 3rd region all-region team her sophomore year of basketball. She was selected to the 12th district all-district team her junior year. In her senior season, she was selected for the 12th district all-district team and all-tournament team.
