Beech Tree News presents: "Bears Spotlight" Harmony Taylor

Harmony is a senior at Butler County High School and is a member of the BCHS cross-country and track & field team. She is the daughter of Robert and Amanda Taylor of the Banock community of Butler County.

Harmony is a 2024 Governor’s Scholar and spent last summer at Morehead State University. She maintains a 4.0 GPA and was a top 10 junior at BCHS. Her future plans are to pursue a college education with a business emphasis.


She has been a varsity member of the BCHS cross-country team for four years and has received the Most Valuable Female Runner Award, Female Leadership Award and Female Heart of the Team Award.


She is the President for the Butler County 4H Teen Club and a member of the 4H State Teen Council for 10th, 11th and 12th grade years. As a junior, she was the Slating Chair for 4H State Teen Council. As a senior, she is the Marketing and Promotions Chair for 4H State Teen Council.

During her freshman year she placed top 10 at nationals for Parliamentary Procedure with FCCLA. Harmony served as Vice President of Peer Education for FCCLA Region 4 during her sophomore year. She served as Vice President of Individual Programs for Kentucky FCCLA during her junior year. She has also served as a chapter officer for FCCLA during her 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years.

She has ran varsity track all four years of high school, and has received the Most Improved Award and 110% Award. Also she has qualified for state in the 4x800m relay her 10th and 11th grade year. 

Harmony  has been an active member of the National Beta Club during all four years of highschool. Recently she represented Beta for Homecoming Court.

Harmony is employed by the Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce, and works in assisting with community events and the social media platform for the Chamber.

Volunteering is something Harmony is passionate about. She enjoys helping kids at Butler County 4H craft events, making blankets for cancer patients, serving food at KSBA board meetings and assisting for 4H Foundation Breakfast events.

In her free time, Harmony loves to travel with her family. She has visited 49 of the 50 states and plans to visit her 50th, Hawaii, over spring break 2025.
