Beech Tree News presents: "Bears Spotlight" Gage Beasley

Gage is a senior at Butler County High School and is a member of the BCHS football team, indoor track & field team and outdoor track & field team. He is the son of Scotty and Stacey Beasley. The Beasley family live in southern Butler County.

Gage began running track and cross-country in 3rd grade. Gage started playing football in 7th grade for BCMS. 

 

Gage was a part of the 2019 GRVC Championship team as an 8th grader for Butler County Middle School. 

 

Gage is a team captain on the BCHS football team. He was a part of the 2022 district runner-up team who had a 8-3 winning season. He also was named 1st team Academic All-State.


Gage’s dad, Scotty, played basketball and ran cross-country for BCHS. Gage’s older brother, Bryar, played football and ran track and cross-country for BCHS. Bryar and Gage were able to play football together for one season at BCHS. Gage’s younger brother, Talyn, currently runs track for the middle school team.

 

In middle school, Gage was a state qualifier all three years as a part of the Butler County outdoor track & field team. 

 

For the 2023 outdoor season, Gage was region runner-up in the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles. He was a member of the regional championship team for the 4 x 400m relay team. His outstanding performance at region earned him state qualification for the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, 4 x 200m relay, and the 4 x 400m relay. 

 

At the 2023 state championship meet, Gage became the state champion for the 300m hurdles with a time of 39.59. Gage’s state title would be the first state title for Butler County since 1980.


For the 2024 indoor track & field season, Gage earned the school record for 60m hurdles. He was a state qualifier for the 60m hurdles, 60m dash and 4 x 400m relay. The team finished 3rd place overall in the state for the 2024 class 2A indoor state meet.


Gage and his relay team were national qualifiers in the 4 x 400m relay and competed at the national championship meet in Virginia Beach, Virginia in February. Gage was named to the 1st team All-State for track and field. Gage is also a member of the NAC Club and Vice President of the Skills Club.

 

Gage enjoys hunting, gaming and hanging out with his friends. He is a lifeguard at the Morgantown City Pool in the summers.
