Beech Tree News presents: "Bears Spotlight" Bryleigh Jones
Bryleigh is a senior at Butler County High School and a captain on the BCHS varsity cheerleading squad. She is the daughter of Jerry and Christie Hurt. Bryleigh resides in the Gilstrap community of Butler County.
Bryleigh began cheering in 7th grade for the BCMS cheer squad. Cheering was a sport she always wanted to be a part of and she took the opportunity that was given to her.
Bryleigh’s mom, Christie, was also a BCHS cheerleader along with being a member of the BCHS band, color guard, and softball team. Bryleigh’s dad, Jerry, was on the BCHS boys basketball team. Her three older brothers, Houston Jones, Easton Jones, and Jaden Hurt, all played baseball. Houston and Easton were also members of the BCHS golf team and Houston was a member of the BCHS band. Jaden played for the BCHS basketball team as well. Bryleigh’s little brother, Talon Jones, played for many elementary basketball teams at Morgantown Elementary School.
During Bryleigh’s cheering career for BCHS, she was named a UCA All-American cheerleader. Her team finished second place in the UCA cheerleading competition for the 2023-24 school year and received a bid to nationals in Orlando, Florida.
During Bryleigh’s senior cheer season, the BCHS cheer squad helped cheer the Butler County Bears to the third regional championship title along with receiving the “Most School Spirit” award for the entire third region.
Bryleigh was also a part of the BCHS “Road to Rupp” experience as she and her squad had the privilege of cheering for the 3rd regional champion Butler County Bears as they competed in the KHSAA sweet sixteen boys basketball championship at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
Bryleigh is a member of the BCHS Beta Club for all four years of high school and a member of FCCA her junior year. She was awarded the English student of the month at BCHS along with receiving the writing and art reward for the annual Veteran’s Day competitions.
In Bryleigh’s free time, she enjoys helping her mom around the house, driving around with friends and playing with her dog, CharLee Belle. She also enjoys fishing with her family, and outfishing her dad.
Bryleigh works as a co-op student at MES in a second grade classroom with Mrs. Tonya Hampton. She will be attending Kentucky Wesleyan College in the fall to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
