Bears win two of three games in Butler County Softball Round Robin

MORGANTOWN - The Bears won two of three games in the Butler County Round Robin over the weekend. Host Butler County beat Hickman County and Todd County Central while dropping a game to Meade County on Saturday.

Butler County 9, Hickman County 1: Host Butler County pulled away to defeat Hickman County 9-1 in its round robin on Saturday morning.
The Bears doubled up Hickman County 10-5 in the hits column.
Butler County pitcher Kylee Smith earned the win. Strong from start to finish, Smith allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out three and walking zero.
Butler County connected for ten hits. Amber Thacker, Dixie Garnier, and Bayleigh Alford provided multiple hits for the Bears. Thacker went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Butler County in the hits column and pace the Bears' offensive attack.
Each high school softball team committed two errors.

Meade County 2, Butler County 0: Butler County couldn't manufacture any runs and committed five errors as visiting Meade County won 2-0 on Saturday.
The Bears lost despite edging Meade County 7-6 in the hits column.
Meade County pitcher Mary Morgan notched the win. Morgan allowed seven hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking zero.
Butler County hurler Kylee Smith pitched well but suffered the loss. Smith surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking zero.
Olivia Jones went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Butler County's offensive effort. Four other Butler County players connected for one hit apiece in the setback.

Butler County 12, Todd County Central 0 (5 innings): Homestanding Butler County returned to the win column on Saturday night, shutting out Todd County Central 12-0 in five innings.
The Bears took control early, scoring four runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Butler County plated a dozen runs on 13 hits and committed only one error.
In the circle, Butler County pitcher Kylee Smith pitched a shutout and earned the win. Smith allowed four hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero in five innings.
Todd County Central pitcher Addye Sawyers suffered the loss. Sawyers went two and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and walking one.
Ashley Thacker, Bayleigh Alford, Dixie Garnier and Aleace Hall provided multiple hits for the Bears. Alford led Butler County at the plate, finishing 3-for-3.
Todd County Central committed three errors in the losing cause.
