Bears set to host Murray in playoffs' first round

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is set to host Murray in the opening round of the 2022 Class 2A UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals on Friday, Nov. 4.
The Bears and Tigers, rivals from neighboring districts, did not meet during the 2022 high school football regular season. 
Butler County is 8-2. The Bears have notched wins over Russellville, Edmonson County, Breckinridge County, Grayson County, McLean County, Todd County Central, Clinton County and Ohio County. 
Butler County has dropped games to Hancock County and Owensboro Catholic.
Currently, Butler County is on a three-game winning streak. 
The Bears have outscored opponents 297-135.

Murray is 5-5. The Tigers have posted wins over Crittenden County, Calloway County, Fort Campbell, Ballard Memorial and Fulton County. 
Murray has dropped games to Trigg County, Union County, Christian County, Caldwell County and Mayfield. 
Heading into the postseason, Murray has won three of its last five games. 
The Tigers have outscored opponents 344-246.

The other first round games in the Class 2A Playoffs are Todd County Central at Mayfield, Fort Campbell vs. Owensboro Catholic (at Steele Stadium, Kentucky Wesleyan College), McLean County at Caldwell County, Washington County at Metcalfe County, Monroe County at Danville, Edmonson County at Lexington Christian, Somerset at Green County, Newport at Walton-Verona, Owen County at Lloyd Memorial, Trimble County at Beechwood, Holy Cross (Covington) at Carroll County, West Carter at Breathitt County, Leslie County at Martin County, Morgan County at Shelby Valley and Prestonsburg at Middlesboro. 
Admission for the Butler County-Murray game will be $6. Season passes will not be accepted. With coaches' cards, only the holders will be admitted.
Kickoff for the Butler County-Murray game is set for 7:30 p.m.
