Bears Roll 27-13 over Logan

Havens takes the ball to the end zone.

The Butler Co. Bears opened the 2012 football season on the road with a border clash with long time foe Logan Co. Cougars.   Football time in Kentucky, as all across the Bluegrass this past weekend fall like temperatures and high school football week one set the stage.

The Butler Co. Bears and Cougars battled to what appeared to be a stalemate first half. But with only twenty-eight seconds left in the half, the Cougars connected on a forty-two yard pass for a touchdown and take a 13-7 lead at the intermission. The only score for the Bears in the first half was a fifteen yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Elijah Flener to junior wide receiver Matt Moore; and Jake Martin extra point kick was good.

2012 BCHS Football: Butler County Bears VS Logan County

The Bears defense would take advantage of the Logan Co. offense that would self destruct in the second half. The Cougars quarterback who was 9 out of 11 passing in the first half for 158 yards, excellent for anyone standards. The Cougars would throw five interceptions, and lose one fumble totaling six turnovers in the second half of play. At any level turnovers change momentum of a game, and can be hard to shake off especially in the opening game of season.  The Bears would convert those turnovers into Bears touchdowns, out scoring the Cougars 20-0.
