Bears return home to host Grayson County

MORGANTOWN — Following back-to-back away games, Butler County is set to host rival Grayson County in a matchup at home on Friday, Sept. 9. 

Butler County is 3-0. The Bears have notched wins over Russellville, Edmonson County and Breckinridge County. Through its first three games in the 2022 high school football season, Butler County has outscored opponents 115-19. 

Butler County is averaging 301.7 rushing yards per game in the 2022 high school football season.

The Bears are averaging 4.3 rushing touchdowns per game.

In three games, Butler County has rushed 108 times for 905 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Colton Dunnells and Brody Hunt have each rushed for 288 yards, sharing team-high rushing honors. Dunnells and Hunt have rushed for six touchdowns and three touchdowns, respectively.

Grayson County is 1-2. The Cougars defeated Edmonson County in a season opener but have dropped back-to-back games to Barren County and McLean County. Opponents have outscored Grayson County 70-54 through the first three games in the 2022 high school football season. 

Hunter Felty and Michael Wood are combining to lead the Cougars. Through the air, Felty has completed 24 of 48 passes for 378 yards and four touchdowns. Wood leads the Cougars in both rushing and receiving. Pacing Grayson County on the ground, Wood has rushed 31 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Felty's top target, Wood has hauled in eight receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bears outlasted the Cougars 22-18 during the 2021 high school football season. 

Butler County has regular season games remaining versus Grayson County, McLean County, Hancock County, Owensboro Catholic, Todd County Central, Clinton County and Ohio County. 

Kickoff for the Butler County-Grayson County football game is set for 7 p.m. in Morgantown. 

 

Bears among best in Class 2A

 

MORGANTOWN — Off to a 3-0 start in the 2022 high school football season, Butler County is among the best teams in Class 2A.

The Bears, under the direction of Coach Brandon Embry, currently find themselves excelling in multiple categories.

Brody Hunt is ranked 17th in rushing. 

Keagen Grubb is ranked 44th in rushing.
