Bears ranked sixth in Media Third Region Poll; Lady Bears ranked fifth

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is ranked sixth in the Media Third Region Boys' Basketball Poll.

The Bears are ranked ahead of Edmonson County, Hancock County, Daviess County and Grayson County.

Butler County is listed behind Whitesville Trinity, McLean County, Owensboro, Ohio County and top-ranked Owensboro Catholic.

The Bears entered the Christmas Break 7-4.

Currently, Butler County is competing in the Independence Bank Classic at the Owensboro Sportscenter.

Lady Bears ranked fifth in Media Third Region Poll

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is ranked fifth in the Media Third Region Girls' Basketball Poll.

Among the top girls' high school basketball teams in the Third Region, Butler County is ranked ahead of Muhlenberg County, Edmonson County, Daviess County, Hancock County and Apollo.

Butler County is listed behind Breckinridge County, Owensboro, Meade County and top-ranked Owensboro Catholic, which received six of the seven first-place votes.

Meade County received one first-place vote for the poll.

Prior to Christmas, Butler County compiled a 6-1 record and won the Thomas Nelson High School-hosted Don Franklin Chevy Christmas Classic.

Currently, Butler County is competing in the Best of the Lakes Holiday Classic at Clinton County High School in Albany.
