MORGANTOWN — Reigning 3rd Region champion Butler County is ranked 12th in the Courier-Journal Preseason Boys' High School Basketball Top 25 Rankings.

The Bears are ranked ahead of Bowling Green, Covington Catholic, DuPont Manual, Cooper, Lexington Catholic, South Laurel, Jeffersontown, Warren Central, Calloway County, South Oldham, Harlan County, Evangel Christian and Henry Clay. 

 Butler County is ranked behind Frederick Douglass, Bryan Station, Ashland Blazer, Woodford County, Adair County, George Rogers Clark, Newport, Male, Trinity, St. Xavier and frontrunner Great Crossing.

The Bears, under the direction of Coach Calvin Dockery, compiled a 23-9 record in the 2023-24 boys' high school basketball season.

Butler County opened preseason practice in mid-October. The Bears are currently competing in the 2024-25 preseason.
