Price scores 40 points in Bears' win over Wildcats BROWNSVILLE — Junior guard Ty Price scored a game-high 40 points to lead Butler County over Edmonson County 97-68 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Feb. 9.

Following the win, Butler County improved to 15-7 overall and 5-0 in the 12th District.

Edmonson County dropped to 10-13 overall and 2-4 in the 12th District after suffering the loss. 

Butler County set the tone early, outscoring host Edmonson County 28-12 in the opening quarter.

The Bears led 50-32 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.

Butler County led 71-40 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Accompanying Price in double figures for Butler County, Lawson Rice scored 22 points, Trever Deweese netted 14 points and Briar Griffin tallied 13 points.

Rounding out Butler County's scoring, Justin Castlen added six points and Nicholas Francisco contributed two points. 

Lady Bears drop district game to Edmonson County 

BROWNSVILLE — Butler County came up short as Edmonson County held on to win 43-40 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday, Feb. 9. 

Following the loss, Butler County slipped to 12-11 overall and 3-3 in the 12th District.

Edmonson County improved to 17-6 overall and 4-2 in the 12th District after posting the win.

Longtime rivals, Butler County and Edmonson County exchanged leads during the 12th District girls' basketball matchup. 

Edmonson County clung to a 13-11 lead at the end of the opening quarter. 

Owning an advantage midway through the 12th District game, Edmonson County led 24-22 at halftime.

But Butler County battled back to lead 30-28 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

However, Edmonson County finished strong, outscoring Butler County 15-10 in the fourth quarter to claim the 12th District win. 

Ava Wilson led the Lady Bears in scoring with 14 points; Ann Marie Skaggs picked up 8 points and Addison Miller tallied 7 points; Parker Willoughby had 5 points; Taylor Leach and Bailey Moore had 3 points apiece.

Butler County is scheduled to visit Grayson County for another 12th District boys' basketball game on Monday, Feb. 12. Tip-off for the Butler County-Grayson County boys' basketball matchup is set for 7:30 p.m. A Butler County-Grayson County girls' basketball matchup is set for 6 p.m.
