Bears outlast Todd on Monday; begin tournament play tonight at Ohio County

With three players in double figures, the Butler County Bears squeaked past the visiting Todd County Central Rebels 69-66 on Monday night in prep basketball action in Morgantown.  

Elijah Flener led the Bears with 16 points, while Brandon Thomas and Zach Burden added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

A close game throughout, the Bears held a razor-thin 35-34 margin at halftime.  Butler County extended that lead to five at 57-52 at the end of the third.  Todd outscored Butler 14-12 in the fourth but it wasn't enough as the Bears held on for the 69-66 win.

Butler County (5-3, 3-0) returns to action tonight at 5:30 p.m. against Daviess County in the Danny Annis Memorial Eagle Classic at Ohio County High School.  The three-day tournament features teams from Henderson County, Calloway County, Breckinridge County, Russellville, and Lake County TN.  Butler County will play Friday and Saturday but game times and opponents will be determined after first round play.
