Bears open season 2-1 with wins over Thomas Nelson and Todd

Despite dropping their first game of the season, the Butler County Bears have won a pair of contests to improve to 2-1 on the early season.  The Bears will be on the road tonight - Friday, December 11 - at Hancock County for a Third Region match-up with the Hornets. 

On Thursday, December 3, Butler County dropped the season opener at Breckinridge County, 71-48.  The Bears and Tigers were close in the first half (Bears trailed 29-24) before Breckinridge broke open the game in the third and fourth quarters. 
Butler County place three players in double figures - Baylee Anderson with 19 points, Will Moore with 17, and Rex Henderson with 10.  Austin Nave picked up two points to round out the scoring.
Butler County opened its home season on Saturday, December 5, with a 70-61 win over Thomas Nelson.  Baylee Anderson exploded with 35 points.  Rex Henderson had 19 points and Will Moore added 10.  Thomas Nelson held a slim halftime advantage at 32-28.  The Bears outscored their opponents 20-15 in the third quarter and 22-14 in the fourth to earn the win. Blake Graham added 4 points and Austin Nave had two. 
The Bears were on the road again on Tuesday, December 8, at Todd County Central in what proved to be a low-scoring affair.  The Bears started slowing and found themselves facing a 15-9 first-quarter deficit before narrowing the gap to two at 20-18 at halftime.  Butler County used a 15-3 offensively explosive fourth quarter to secure the win.
Anderson and Henderson each had 11 points for the Bears; Nave had 6 points, Moore finished with 5 points, Graham added 4 points, and Brennan Grubb picked up 3 points.
