Bears lead early but fall to Hart County 47-34

A touchdown pass from quarterback Jagger Henderson to wide receiver Solomon Flener, followed by a successful completion to Zak Silcok for the two-point conversion, gave Butler County a 14-13 second quarter lead over Hart County on Friday night but it wasn’t enough in the end as both teams exploded for multiple touchdowns.  Despite a valiant 20-point fourth quarter, the Bears fell 47-34 to the Raiders.

Henderson scored on a quarterback keeper from ten yards out for the first Butler County touchdown.

Hart County rattled off four unanswered touchdowns in the second and third quarters to take a commanding 40-14 lead.

With 8:55 left in the game, Henderson connected with Flener for the score.  At 4:08 Henderson found receiver Brody Hunt for the 10-yard touchdwon. Zak Silcox grabbed a Henderson pass for the two-point conversion.  

Trailing 47-28, Henderson rushed  from two yards out with .52 seconds left for the final score of 47-34.

Butler County had 417 total yards of offense on 73 plays - 168 rushing yards and 249 yards in the air.  Henderson was 19 for 38 in passing with three touchdowns and two interceptions. The Bears had 24 first downs.  Solomon Flener had 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Brody Hunt had 98 yards and one touchdown.  

Landon Phelps had 36 yards on kickoff returns.  Zak Silcox had 5 punts for 107 yards.  

Hart County had 486 yards of offense on 61 plays - 128 passing and 358 rushing.  

 

Butler County (1-3) will return to action on Friday at McLean County.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be live on WLBQ and on the WLBQ and Beech Tree News Facebook pages.
