Bears to host undefeated Glasgow for district matchup
MORGANTOWN — Butler County is set to host undefeated Glasgow for its next Class 3A, District 2 matchup in the 2025 high school football season on Friday, Oct. 3.
The Bears and Scotties have met 10 times since 1999. Glasgow has prevailed in nine of the last 10 games played between the two high school football teams. The Scotties have notched back-to-back wins over the Bears. Glasgow beat Butler County 56-14 in a Class 3A, District 2 game, the two teams' last meeting, played Oct. 25, 2024.
Butler County is 3-3 overall and 0-2 in Class 3A, District 2. The Bears opened the 2025 high school football season with three straight wins over Breckinridge County, Ohio County and Todd County Central. But since starting 3-0, Butler County has dropped three consecutive games to Grayson County, LaRue County and Edmonson County. Both Grayson County and Edmonson County defeated Butler County via single digits.
Butler County continues to show improvement on the gridiron. Through its first six games in the 2025 high school football season, Butler County has scored 164 points and allowed 121 points. The Bears are averaging 3.9 touchdowns per game.
Glasgow is 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Class 3A, District 2. The Scotties have notched six straight wins over Clay County (Tenn.), Barren County, Monroe County, Allen County-Scottsville, Adair County and Hart County.
Through its first six games in the 2025 high school football season, Glasgow has scored 210 points and allowed only 23 points. The Scotties are averaging 4.5 touchdowns per game.
Glasgow is ranked seventh in the latest Kentucky High School Football Media Class 2A Poll, which was released on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Butler County, Glasgow, LaRue County, Edmonson County, Adair County and Hart County comprise Class 3A, District 2. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top four teams from District 2 will advance to the KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.
Kickoff for the Butler County-Glasgow game is slated for 7 p.m.
