Bears to host Todd County Central for second straight home game

MORGANTOWN — Unbeaten Butler County is set to host Todd County Central for its second straight home game in the 2025 high school football season on Friday, Sept. 5.

The Bears and Rebels will meet for a non-district matchup. 

Butler County and Todd County Central have not met since the 2022 high school football season. The Bears outlasted the Rebels 27-21 in overtime on Oct. 14, 2022. 

Butler County and Todd County Central have met 18 times since 2001. The Bears have notched wins over the Rebels in 13 of the previous 18 games played between the two high school football teams. 

Butler County will be carrying momentum into the upcoming home game. 

The Bears are 2-0 after notching back-to-back wins over Breckinridge County and Ohio County. Butler County beat Breckinridge County 42-30 in a season opener on Friday, Aug. 22. Then, remaining in the win column, Butler County defeated Ohio County 28-19 one week later on Friday, Aug. 29. 

Butler County competes in Class 3A, District 2. Head coach Josh Robins guides the Bears. 

The Rebels are 1-1. Todd County Central beat Ballard Memorial 32-28 in its season opener on Friday, Aug. 22. But Hopkins County Central dealt Todd County Central a loss one week later, defeating the Rebels 36-6 on Friday, Aug. 29. 

Todd County Central competes in Class 2A, District 1. Head coach Willem Cohen guides the Rebels. 

Butler County has additional regular season games remaining versus Grayson County, LaRue County, Edmonson County, Glasgow, Hart County, Adair County and Russellville.

Todd County Central has additional regular season games remaining versus Jo Byrns (Tenn.), Fort Campbell, Mayfield, Crittenden County, Caldwell County, Trigg County and Webster County. 

Kickoff for the Butler County-Todd County Central game is set for 7 p.m.
