Bears to host Muhlenberg County for final scrimmage
MORGANTOWN — Butler County is set to host Muhlenberg County for its final scrimmage in the 2025 high school football preseason at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15.
The Bears visited Warren Central for an initial scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 8.
Butler County carried momentum into the offseason. The Bears won their 2024 season finale, defeating Ohio County 21-7. Butler County exited the 2024 season with a 1-9 record.
The Bears compete in Class 3A, District 2. The alignment for Class 3A, District 2 is as follows: Adair County, Butler County, Edmonson County, Glasgow, Hart County, LaRue County.
Muhlenberg County compiled a 2-8 record in the 2024 season. The Mustangs beat Ballard Memorial 42-34 in their 2024 season finale.
The Mustangs compete in Class 5A, District 1. The alignment for Class 5A, District 1 is as follows: Apollo, Graves County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Marshall County, Muhlenberg County, Owensboro.
Butler County has regular season games scheduled versus Breckinridge County, Ohio County, Todd County Central, Grayson County, LaRue County, Edmonson County, Glasgow, Hart County, Adair County and Russellville. Head coach Josh Robins guides the Bears.
Muhlenberg County has regular season games scheduled versus McLean County, Webster County, Edmonson County, Ohio County, Apollo, Marshall County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Owensboro, Graves County and Ballard Memorial. Head coach Josh Staples guides the Mustangs.
The Bears are scheduled to visit Breckinridge County for their 2025 season opener on Friday, Aug. 22. Kickoff for the Butler County-Breckinridge County football game is slated for 7 p.m.
