Bears to host Glasgow for district matchup PINK OUT GAME

MORGANTOWN — Set to take the field for its first home game in nearly one month, Butler County will host Glasgow for a Class 3A, District 2 matchup on Friday, Oct. 20. 

Butler County will be looking to end a losing streak. The Bears have suffered seven straight losses. 

Butler County is 1-7 overall and 0-3 in Class 3A, District 2. The Bears beat Russellville in a season opener. However, Butler County has lost seven consecutive games to Webster County, Warren Central, Grayson County, Hart County, Franklin-Simpson, Bethlehem and Adair County. 

Despite being on the current losing skid, Butler County is averaging nearly 16 points per game. Head coach Brandon Embry guides the Bears. 

Glasgow is 6-2 overall and 1-2 in Class 3A, District 2. The Scotties have notched wins over LaRue County, Russellville, Monroe County, Allen County-Scottsville, Barren County and Adair County. 

After opening the season with six straight wins, Glasgow has dropped back-to-back games to Franklin-Simpson and Hart County. 

Under the direction of head coach Jeff Garmon, Glasgow has managed to outscore its opponents 253-113.

Butler County has regular season games remaining versus Glasgow and Ohio County. The Bears will conclude the 2023 high school football regular season with back-to-back home games. 

The Bears and Scotties haven't meet since the 2006 high school football season. Butler County pulled away to beat Glasgow 39-6 in the two teams' last meeting on Oct. 6, 2006. 

Kickoff for the upcoming Butler County-Glasgow game is set for 7 p.m.
