It's "Pink Out Night" in Morgantown on Friday as the Butler County Bears (5-3)  play host to the visiting Hancock County Hornets (6-2) in a key district football game that will help determine seeding in the postseason.  BCHS Coach Ryan Emmick, a Hancock County native, knows the Hornets will come ready to play.    

"Hancock is a very solid football team.  They have an explosive running back in Juice Hamilton.  He is their leader on the field and is a "do all" player for them," said Emmick.  "Kort Morris is a strong armed quarterback who is capable in the passing game."

Coach Emmick is familiar with Hancock and the challenges they represent. 

"They run a 'Wing-t' offense.  We must be ready to key our reads defensively.  We have to do a better job tackling and getting pursuit to the football," said Emmick.    "#8 Case and #7 Clarkson are their favorite receivers and they try to get you to bite on run fakes to get them open in the passing game."

According to Emmick, the Bears will likely be facing a Hancock team with a 3-4 defensive setup. 

"Hancock runs a 3-4 defensively.  They love to stay in a 'Cover 2 Shell' and force you to make hard throws.  We did a great job running the football against Todd and must continue that against Hancock," said Emmick.  "Our line must step up and open holes for our backs and when we do throw the ball, we have to ensure the catch and get yardage after contact." 

Class 2A, District 2 standings loom large over this game. 

"This game sets up the district scenario for us.  We are definitely in the playoffs but every win from here on  improves our seeding," said Emmick.  "There are several scenarios that could play out with us being seeded anywhere from second to fourth.  We hold our own destiny in our hands and must take care of business Friday night."

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Morgantown.  The game is also being used to raise awareness for breast cancer research as fans are encouraged to wear pink.
