BEARS HEADED TO STATE: No School Thursday 3/21; Early Release on Friday 3/22

Congratulations to our Bears Basketball Team and Coach Calvin Dockery on earning the 3rd Region Championship!

Fresh off its first-ever Third Region Championship, the Butler County High School Bears will now face off at KHSAA State Tournament Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena in Lexington. The opening game will be played Thursday, March 21st at 12:30 p.m. CST against Evangel Christian.

Due to this event there will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, March 21st. This day will be made up on Friday, May 17th.

Friday, March 22nd will be an Early Release day. School will be in session, but the school day will end at 1:00 p.m. The purpose of the early release is to allow travel to the 2nd round game which will be Friday night at 7:30 p.m. CST.

In the event that the Bears do not advance to the second round, school will still release at 1:00 p.m. on Friday 3/22.

"We are doing this to allow time for plans to be made that will be static and not change depending on the outcome of the first game at state," said Josh Belcher, assistant superintendent for Butler County Schools. "Lastly, this plan allows us to stay on track for our Graduation date of Friday, May 17th."
