Bears handle Hopkins County Central, 74-60

OWENSBORO — Butler County topped Hopkins County Central 74-60 in the Whittaker Country Christmas Tournament at the Owensboro Sports Center on Tuesday, Dec. 20. 

Butler County shot 41.9 percent (26-of-62) from the field in the win. The Bears shot 37.5 percent (six-of-16) from three-point range.

Butler County shot 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the free throw line. 

Ty Price scored 30 points to lead Butler County to the win. 

Following Price in scoring for Butler County, Trever Deweese netted 22 points.

Delivering a double-double for the Bears, Justin Castlen scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. 

Rounding out Butler County's individual scoring, Kolton Hudson and Luke Laughing contributed six points apiece for the Bears. 

Hopkins County Central shot 40 percent (22-of-55) from the field in the tournament game. The Storm shot 25.8 percent (eight-of-31) from three-point range.

Hopkins County Central shot 57.1 percent (eight-of-14) from the free throw line. 

Trevahn Jones scored 21 points to pace the Storm. Accompanying Jones in double figures for Hopkins County Central, Drake Skeen netted 12 points and Namari Hall added 10 points. Hall recorded a double-double, pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Narrowly missing double figures for the Storm, Trevor Weldon tallied nine points.

 

Accounting for the rest of Hopkins County Central's individual scoring, Davonyae Butcher and Reese Belt chipped in six points and two points, respectively.
