Bears falter, drop game to Warren Central

BOWLING GREEN — Butler County faltered late as Warren Central battled back from behind to win 74-70 in a non-district boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 6.Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 14-7. 

 

Warren Central, which prevailed on its home floor, improved to 9-8 after posting the win. 

Butler County suffered the loss after carrying a lead out of each of the first three quarters.

Starting strong, Butler County outscored Warren Central 21-12 in the opening period.

The Bears led 44-33 at halftime, taking a double-digit lead into the break.

However, Warren Central fared better in the second half, especially during the final quarter. 

With Warren Central heating up offensively, Butler County led 59-54 at the conclusion of the third period. 

Excelling late, Warren Central managed to claim the victory.

Ty Price poured in 31 points to lead the Bears. Price scored 23 points in the opening half of the non-district game.

Accompanying Price in double figures for Butler County, Lawson Rice scored 19 points and Briar Griffin netted 11 points.

Rounding out Butler County's scoring, Justin Castlen added seven points and Trever Deweese contributed two points. 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Edmonson County for a 12th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Feb. 9. Tip-off for the upcoming 12th District boys' basketball game is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Brownsville.
