Bears fall to Trinity, Russellville
Bears fall to Raiders in district game WHITESVILLE — Butler County was limited offensively as Whitesville Trinity pulled away to win 80-57 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Dec. 12.
Following the loss, Butler County slipped to 0-4 overall and opened 0-1 in the 12th District.
The Bears faced a deficit at the end of each quarter.
Whitesville Trinity started strong, outscoring Butler County 24-7 in the opening period.
The Raiders led 41-25 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.
Whitesville Trinity led 64-55 at the end of the third quarter.
Butler County shot 41.1 percent (23-of-56) from the field. The Bears shot 35.0 percent (seven-of-20) from three-point range.
Butler County shot 57.1 percent (four-of-seven) from the free throw line.
Carson Davis and Curtis Murphy paced Butler County, scoring 14 points apiece for the Bears.
Accompanying Davis and Murphy in double figures for the Bears, Cooper Embry netted 12 points.
Eight different players entered Butler County's scoring column. The additional scorers for Butler County were Eli Oaks (six points), Cainan Vincent (five points), Will Amos (two points), Jett Johnson (two points) and Kaiden Richardson (two points).

Bears fall to Apollo
OWENSBORO — Apollo prevented Butler County from entering the win column, defeating the Bears 74-44 in a non-district boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 0-6.
Butler County shot 35.7 percent from three-point range, connecting on 10 of 28 attempts beyond the arc.
Curtis Murphy led Butler County, scoring a game-high 21 points for the Bears. Murphy was the only Butler County player to reach double figures.
Eli Oaks (five points), Carson Davis (five points), Jett Johnson (three points), Cooper Embry (three points), Cainan Vincent (three points), Nicholas Francisco (two points) and Kaiden Richardson (two points) followed Murphy in Butler County's scoring column.
Russellville 49, Butler County 46: Butler County came up short as host Russellville held on to win 49-46 in a non-district boys' high school basketball game on Monday, Dec. 15.
The Bears and Panthers exchanged leads during the matchup.
Curtis Murphy led Butler County, scoring a game-high 20 points for the Bears.
Following Murphy in Butler County's scoring column, Carson Davis netted 15 points.
Three players accounted for all of Butler County's scoring. Cooper Embry delivered a double-double for Butler County, scoring 11 points and claiming 10 rebounds.
