Bears fall to Owensboro Catholic in Class 2A Playoffs

OWENSBORO - Visiting Butler County was limited to a pair of touchdowns as Owensboro Catholic pulled away to win 41-16 in the opening round of the KHSAA Class 2A Playoffs at Steele Stadium on Friday, Nov. 5. 

Following the loss, Butler County exited the 2021 high school football season 6-5.

Owensboro Catholic, which improved to 6-5 after notching the win, scored first and never trailed. 

The Aces led 21-2 at halftime. 

Remaining in control after the intermission period, Owensboro Catholic led 34-2 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Quarterback Lincoln Clancy led Owensboro Catholic's offensive attack, completing 20 of 26 passes for 320 yards and six touchdowns. 

William Carrico was Clancy's top target, hauling in eight receptions for 143 yards and three touchdowns.

Behind Carrico, Braden Mundy reeled in six receptions for 119 yards and one touchdown.

Contributing to Owensboro Catholic's aerial attack, Everett Munsey and Reid Clark reeled in one touchdown pass reception apiece. 

Owensboro Catholic rushed 29 times for 255 yards.

Hunter Monroe led Owensboro Catholic on the ground, rushing 20 times for 193 yards. 

Vince Carrico paced Owensboro Catholic defensively, recording 23 tackles for the Aces. 

Quarterback Jagger Henderson completed 15 of 24 passes for 154 yards and one touchdown in the Bears' season-ending loss. Henderson completed a scoring pass to Gage Beasley. On the ground, Henderson rushed 10 times for 54 yards. 

Solomon Flener was Henderson's top target, hauling in five receptions for 75 yards.

Butler County rushed 23 times for 71 yards. 

Providing another touchdown for the Bears, Beasley scored on a fumble recovery.
