Bears fall to Owensboro Catholic, beat Hancock County

MORGANTOWN - Bouncing back at home, Butler County pulled away to beat Hancock County 62-57 in a boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday night. 

With the win, Butler County improved to 14-4.
Hancock County dropped to 6-9 with the loss. 
Parker Rice scored 21 points to lead Butler County to the victory. Thriving late, Rice provided 12 points in the fourth quarter. 
Rice was the only Bear to reach double figures in the scoring column.
Hancock County led 27-24 at halftime but the Bears finished strong. Butler County outscored Hancock County 22-15 in the fourth quarter to pull out the hard-fought win. 
The additional scorers for Butler County were Leevi McMillin (nine points), Solomon Flener (eight points), Hayden Hodge (seven points), Jagger Henderson (eight points), Brody Hunt (seven points) and Zach Tutko (three points). 
Offensively for Hancock County, Cole Dixon led the way with a team-high 15 points. Devyn Powers pushed in 12 points for the Hornets while Colin Elder added 10 points.
Owensboro Catholic 66, Butler County 56: Owensboro Catholic used a balanced scoring attack to pull away to beat visiting Butler County 66-56 in a boys' high school basketball game on Monday night.
After facing a three-point deficit at halftime, Owensboro Catholic outscored Butler County 23-10 in the third quarter.
Brian Griffith and Drew Hartz scored 15 points apiece to lead Owensboro Catholic to the victory. Owensboro Catholic featured four scorers in double figures as Ji Webb netted 14 points and Gray Weaver added 10 points.
Parker Rice paced Butler County with a game-high 19 points. Accompanying Rice in double figures in scoring for the Bears, Levi McMillin netted 14 points.
Butler County shot 46.9 percent (23-of-49) from the field. But the Bears were 3-of-14 from 3-point range. 
Nearly reaching double figures in scoring for Butler County, Brody Hunt netted nine points. 
Hayden Hodge, Jagger Henderson and Solomon Flener rounded out the Bears' individual scoring, chipping in four points apiece.
