Bears fall to Daviess County in region tournament

HARTFORD — Butler County was limited offensively as Daviess County pulled away to win 16-1 in four innings in the opening round of the 3rd Region Softball Tournament at Ohio County on Wednesday, May 29.

The loss eliminated Butler County from the 3rd Region Softball Tournament. Butler County exited the 2024 high school softball season 10-20.

Miley Franzell started in the circle for Butler County and suffered the loss.

Chipping in defensively for Butler County, Shelby McDaniel and Mia Thomas each made relief pitching appearances.

Butler County plated one run on three hits. Thomas (one hit, one RBI) and Madison Clark (two hits) accounted for Butler County's offense. Providing an extra-base hit for Butler County, Clark doubled.

In the other opening round games in the 3rd Region Softball Tournament, it was Ohio County 11, Edmonson County 4; Hancock County 5, Owensboro Catholic 0 and Meade County 8, Muhlenberg County 1.
