LEITCHFIELD - Butler County is set to face Grayson County in the opening round of the 12th District Baseball Tournament on the Cougars' home field on Monday. First pitch for the Butler County-Grayson County postseason matchup is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Leitchfield.

The Butler County and Grayson County baseball teams split their regular-season district series. Grayson County won the first meeting between the two high school baseball clubs, edging the Bears 5-4 on May 7. But Butler County prevailed one day later, shutting out Grayson County 2-0 in another 12th District contest on May 8.

Butler County concluded the regular-season 12-11. The Bears are under the direction of head coach Keith Butler.

Grayson County compiled a 9-22 record during the regular-season. The Cougars are under the direction of head coach Danny Clark.

Both Butler County and Grayson County finished 4-2 in the 12th District.

Edmonson County (16-10 overall, 4-2 in the 12th District) and Whitesville Trinity (2-18 overall, 0- 6 district) are due to battle in the opening game of the 12th District Baseball Tournament at 5 p.m. on Monday. The winners of the Butler County-Grayson County and Edmonson County-Whitesville Trinity games will move on to meet in the 12th District Baseball Tournament championship game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Both the champion and the runner-up from the 12th District will advance to the 3rd Region Baseball Tournament.
