Bears drop three games at King of Bluegrass

LOUISVILLE — Butler County couldn't battle back from behind as Louisville Trinity pulled away to win 88-61 in the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic at Fairdale High School on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 5-2. 

Trinity led at the end of each quarter, outscoring Butler County 22-16 in the opening period.

The Shamrocks led 37-20 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.

Extending its lead after the intermission period, Trinity led 67-41 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Trinity used a balanced offensive attack to pull away to win convincingly. 

Julius Edmonds scored 18 points to lead the Shamrocks. 

Along with Edmonds reaching double figures for Trinity, Drae Vasser scored 16 points, Josiah Lawson netted 13 points and Jayden Johnson added 10 points. 

Ty Price poured in a game-high 35 points to lead the Bears. 

Accompanying Price in double figures for Butler County, Lawson Rice netted 17 points.

Butler County received scoring from seven different players. The additional scorers for Butler County were Justin Castlen (two points), Briar Griffin (two points), Trever Deweese (two points), Curtis Murphy (two points) and Case Hooten (one point).

Bears fall to Harlan County 


LOUISVILLE — Butler County remained in the loss column as Harlan County pulled away to win 93-74 in the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic at Fairdale High School on Thursday, Dec. 21. 

Harlan County carried a lead out of each quarter, outscoring the Bears 27-22 in the opening period.

The 13th Region frontrunner, Harlan County led 52-29 at halftime. 

Three Butler County players reached double figures. Ty Price scored 31 points to lead Butler County in the matchup. 

Accompanying Price in double figures for Butler County, Lawson Rice scored 21 points and Trever Deweese netted 11 points.

 

Contributing offensively for the Bears, Justin Castlen added seven points and Case Hooten tallied four points.

Butler County squard off against Frederick Douglas on December 22 in its final game of the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic. The Bears fell 76-61.
