Bears drop district game to Adair County

MORGANTOWN — Butler County couldn't battle back from behind as Adair County prevailed 42-12 in a Class 3A, District 2 matchup on Friday, Oct. 18.
Following the loss, Butler County fell to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in Class 3A, District 2. 
Adair County started strong, outscoring Butler County 14-0 in the first quarter.
The Indians led 42-6 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.
Garrett Phelps led the Bears. Through the air, Phelps completed 15 passes for 186 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Phelps rushed eight times for 64 yards and one touchdown.
As a team, Butler County rushed 15 times for 115 yards and one touchdown in the Class 3A, District 2 matchup. 
Second in rushing for Butler County, Maddox Moore took four carries for 37 yards. 
Cainan Vincent led the Bears in receiving. Vincent hauled in five receptions for 76 yards.
Reaching the endzone via the air for Butler County, Kellon Meredith added three receptions for 59 yards and one touchdown. 
Defensively for Butler County, Kevin Robins recorded a game-high 10 tackles.
Following Robins, Lonnie Phelps posted eight tackles for the Bears. 
Butler County is scheduled to visit Glasgow for another Class 3A, District 2 matchup on Friday, Oct. 25.
